The Board of Directors is an elected body of governance responsible for the overall operation of the Association, including compliance with NAR and C.A.R. mandates, enforcement of the NAR Code of Ethics, preservation of association assets, Bylaws compliance, setting local policy and actions consistent with the Association Mission Statement.
The Budget and Finance committee monitors Association finances, fiscal policies, annually recommends a budget to the Board of Directors that includes operational income and expenses as well as member service programs to be funded; provides guidance to the Board of Directors on non-budgeted items.
The Bylaws Committee provides oversight interpretation on the Association’s bylaws, recommends of new bylaws or changes or deletions where appropriate, to be consistent with National Association of REALTORS® mandates and in compliance with our NAR Charter.
This is a committee whose members are contributors to the REALTOR® Action Fund (RAF). The committee review requests and recommends contributions to issues campaigns and candidate campaigns that are of importance to the membership.
The Education Committee identifies member needs and desires in the area of real estate education, establishes goals for delivering education programs to the membership, assists in seeking course material or instructors to meet the goal. Included in the committee’s charge is to identify opportunities to keep our members aware of issues, relating to fair housing, equal opportunity and cultural diversity.
Evaluates the Association’s new member orientation program, provides input into the content and delivery of orientation, and participates in the orientation program where appropriate. Looks for opportunities to establish and maintain relationships between REALTOR®-members, affiliate-members, and the community. Makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on membership and member services issues.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the Association in meeting the needs of the membership under the umbrella of our mission statement. Develops a plan which includes priorities and makes recommendations consistent with planning for the future. Activities should be in congruence with requirements for NAR Core Standards adherence.
The Local Government Relations and Political Affairs Committee monitors local city and county actions that affect the real estate business, attempt to establish lines of communication with elected officials, and makes recommendations for campaign support to our political action Committee (BORPAC). They also make recommendations and assist in educating the membership on the importance of local, state, and national political involvement and in Voluntary Political Survival contributions.
The Grievance Committee determines if a complaint against a REALTOR® member, whether received from another member or from the public qualifies for a hearing before a panel selected from the Professional Standards Committee. They act to fill two important roles; protecting our members from frivolous complaints yet preserving our goal of self-policing and discipline to maintain high ethical standards. Service on the Grievance Committee provides a good foundation for futures service on the Professional Standards Committee.
Professional Standards Committee members serve on hearing panels for ethics complaints or arbitration requests in accordance with the California Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual. Each hearing panel consists of a chair person, two additional panel members and at least one alternate.
Our tax exempt charitable corporation administers our community service program. The Board of Directors governs the corporation and directs its charitable activities but every member is invited to participate in the community service programs and fund raising events programs, with grants available to issues that concentrate on assisting local youth and underrepresented individuals in our local area. Serves to establish and maintain the REALTOR® image as “good neighbors”, where we live and work.
